Opal
Opal is the most colorful of all gemstones, and some opals can even be more valuable than diamonds. A unique quality of the opal is its iridescent flashes that change with the angle at which the gemstone is viewed; this phenomenon is called “opalescence”. The most precious and desired color of the opal is black, then white to pink. More common, less expensive colors are red-orange.
